About Us

John Kitching LL.B(Hons) PGDipLP qualified as a bilingual UK Solicitor in 2002, and founded French Law Consultancy in 2010. He has worked as a bilingual Solicitor for the leading UK big players in French Property Law. He is an approachable, recognised expert with 18 years experience as a bilingual UK lawyer, helping clients with French Wills, French Estate Planning, French Inheritance, French Property, Powers of Attorney and Charities.  He studied law and French LL.B(Honours) at Sheffield Hallam University and L’Université de Paris XII, followed by a year working two jobs to save for Law School at the College of Law, York. My jobs were cleaning a restaurant in the early morning and being a French Market Researcher late into the night.

John trained as a solicitor in York and Hull, then once qualified, looked for a job in Wills and Charities and Estates where he could mountain bike, rock climb or surf. He moved to the Peak District and worked at a Gorvins Solicitors in Stockport where he set up the French Law department whilst working in UK estate planning Wills and Trusts. He was then headhunted by Pannone in Manchester. He has acted as a French Law Consultant Solicitor for Heslop & Platt for ten years, and for Ashtons. John has particular expertise in complex French law inheritance matters, complicated estates, Wills, charities and French bank account recovery, and is a legal expert columnist for the well known French Expat magazine Connexion France.

He is highly recommended and endorsed by Solicitors, Notary Public, French Notaires, and clients.

John lives in the Derbyshire Peak District with his wife and two energetic young boys. He loves nature, the outdoors, mountain biking and rock climbing and is currently taking swimming lessons for his occasional surfing attempts. He loves all things French (..well, most things..) and spends time with his family in the UK and with his family all over France.
